Swallowing and Oral Motor Therapy

Our clinic offers swallowing and oral motor evaluation and treatment for all ages, from infants to adults.

All of our clinicians are CPR, First Aid, and AED certified through the American Heart Association.

Common symptoms of swallowing and oral motor difficulty at any age:

  • Coughing, choking, or gagging when eating or drinking

  • Difficulty chewing food

  • Difficulty eating certain textures

  • Difficulty with breastfeeding or bottle-feeding

  • Need for supplemental nutrition (tube feedings)

  • Pain while swallowing

  • Refusing food

  • Slow or inadequate weight gain

  • Stressful reaction to mealtimes

  • Inability to swallow

  • A sensation of food getting stuck in the throat or chest or behind the breastbone (sternum)

  • Drooling

  • Hoarseness

  • Food coming back up (regurgitation)

  • Frequent heartburn

  • Food or stomach acid backing up into the throat
